Central City Fitness Center hosts open house to honor departing Director Michele Simmons and introduces new leadership

The Central City Fitness Center held an open house last Thursday to bid farewell to Michele Simmons, the long-serving Executive Director, and to introduce new leadership. Simmons, who has been a cornerstone of the Fitness Center since she first joined as a consultant in November 2002, officially stepped down on May 23rd.

Nebraska ca_le on feed down 1%

Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.51 million cattle on feed on May 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was down 1% from last year. Placements during April totaled 445,000 head, up 3% from 2023. Fed cattle marketings for the month of April totaled 465,000 head, up 13% from last year.
