The 2024 Merrick County 4-H Shotgun contest was held on Saturday, April 27th at the Sportsman’s Club. Nine 4-Hers attended the contest. Rex Ferris was the Grand Champion Jr shooter and Emmitt Kremer was the Reserve Champion. In the Sr. division, Brady Myers received Grand Champion and Jackson Roberts received Reserve Champion.

In a case that has gripped the Marquette community, Jeffrey Adams was found guilty of first-degree murder on Tuesday, June 18, by a jury of his peers. This conviction brings a tragic chapter to a close in the aftermath of Angela Adams’s untimely death.

Central City residents are being called to action as the Central City Community Needs Assessment Survey is set to launch on July 1st. With the 4th of July fast approaching, many firework vendors are getting ready to open up and get their products out on the shelves, and people in the community will start lining up at their preferred vendors to get all the fireworks they can to celebrate the coming Independence Day. One particular vendor that is opening up for the first time this year is Pow Pow Fireworks, setting up shop on the lot by Taco Johns.
