From the Chamber

Body
Last Thursday we held a repeat ribbon cutting for MyEllement Boutique as Emily Herbig welcomed the community into her new 8000 square foot clothing warehouse for tours, refreshments and of course shopping. I saw vehicles from all over Nebraska who came to celebrate Emily’s success. What a testament to the far reach of Emily’s business! Emily’s story is about her hard work, following consumer trends and gathering a staff that supports all she does. The chamber is fortunate that Emily is one of our valued members and we are grateful that her success benefits all of Central City.

As many families come out to visit the gravestones of their family members in the military who have passed, the VFW color guard out of Clarks has been going to the Bureau and Clarks Cemetery to perform their yearly Memorial Day Service.

Farmers of Merrick County - Richard Brown

Body
Richard started farming in 1972. Prior to this, though, he was no stranger to farming. Richard’s father, also called Richard, was a farmer so he grew up on a farm. The first field Richard planted? It was 30 acres of dry land soybeans in 1966 during high school for an FFA project. And at that point in his life, Richard wasn’t too sure about farming. You see when he graduated high school he had no desire to farm, had all sorts of interests: geology, history and he wanted to be a teacher. However, Richard got as far as student teaching and decided it wasn’t for him. “I was tired of the concrete and the politics, so I came back and started farming.”
