Chapman Village considers potential sale of school building for drug and alcohol treatment center

The Village of Chapman is moving forward with plans to sell a vacant school building, with a special public meeting scheduled for August 29, 2024, to discuss the proposal. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapman Community Center and will include a presentation by Phillip Beckett, the prospective buyer, followed by an opportunity for community members to ask questions and provide feedback.

Darrell Widman and a few friends of the Merrick County Historical Museum hosted a public demonstration and interactive experience involving the firing of a number of World War II era weapons at the Central City Sportsman’s Club. Widman offered the use of rifles and machine guns from his own personal collection and also donated the ammunition appropriate for each weapon for a fee.
