At the P.E.O. Chapter AB June 5th meeting, scholarship committee chairman Karen Benner announced the Chapter AB, P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) scholarships awarded to local 2026 graduates.

More than 6,200 University of Nebraska– Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. Qualification for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.

The American Red Cross has an urgent need for donors and is counting on people to act now and book a time to give blood. Donors of all blood types are needed to keep a strong supply of lifesaving blood products on hospital shelves into the summer.

Peyton Hofmann, a recent graduate of High Plains High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. International Sisterhood.

10 YEARS AGO Northern Hamilton County got its first taste of spring severe storm season last Tuesday as a system kicked off locally near Chapman. A string of overturned pivots, along with severe flooding, crop damage and infrastructure destruction characterized the storm system.

Hayley Stahn of Central City graduated on May 11th with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Forensic Psychology and a minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the Arizona State University New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
