It has been a great semester to be a Bison! As the first semester draws to a close, it has truly been an exceptional start to the school year. Student and community accomplishments have been remarkable during this period of time, and the amount of positive attention this community has received has been special.

A troubling trend

What do free speech and a free press mean to you? The answer to that question is apparently much different for big tech company execs than it is the rest of the business world, according to breaking news stories published last week. It reflects a troubling trend, frankly, where social media platforms have literally changed or shaped the narrative on issues of the day simply because they can.

December is here already and we are almost through our first semester of school! This is a busy time for families with the beginning of winter activities as well as the holidays. It can be a challenging time for our little ones as it is very exciting for them but also difficult to navigate a different schedule and lots of different but exciting things that make this time of year special.

Clayton Erickson has a lifetime of service to the community. His 20 years in office is longer than any previous Central City Mayor. He also served on the City Council, as a Deputy Sheriff and with the City Electric Department. He has spent his lifetime serving and protecting the people of our community with dignity and poise. He has never grabbed the spotlight and he never sought any credit or even acknowledgment. If you are familiar with the term “servant-leadership”, Clayton has been a true servant-leader and always put the needs of the community first.

I guess it is a good thing for both you and I that we didn’t have a shortage of news this week. Man, what a week it has been. From the return of Men’s night to the opening of the Bison Activity Dome to the Christmas Under Wraps celebration there was certainly plenty of news to cover. Plus sports on top of that.
