The University of Nebraska Extension’s Soybean Production Clinic, held on February 15, 2024, at the Merrick County Youth and Agriculture Education Center, successfully concluded, drawing a number of soybean farmers and agribusiness professionals. The clinic, part of the Extension Crop Management Training Programs, offered an immersive experience into the world of soybean cultivation, addressing current challenges and introducing novel agricultural practices.

A surge of enthusiasm and community spirit has been ignited by the Lone Tree Throwers, a cornhole club in Central City that has become a pivotal part of local entertainment and camaraderie for more than a year. This club has extended an open invitation to people of all ages, encouraging them to engage in the joys of cornhole—a game that is as much about forging social connections as it is about the spirit of competition.

As Central City Public Schools embarks on the celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, the spotlight shines brightly on the invaluable classes in Family Consumer Science and Art. These courses offer students a unique opportunity to delve into the realms of graphic design, visual arts, and the essential skills necessary for daily life, marking a significant contribution to their holistic education.

The Merrick County GOP hosted their monthly assembly on Monday, February 12th, focusing on the “Dangers of S.E.L.,” featuring insights from Dr. Sue Greenwald, a former pediatrician. The gathering took place at the Interconnection Systems Inc. building, which previously served as a church and was the venue for last month’s meeting. Attendees were offered bottled water upon entry and were greeted with a comprehensive display of informational materials for the evening’s topic. The session commenced with an opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The 2024 Nebraska Soybean Production Clinic will be held Thursday, Feb. 15th at the Merrick County Youth and Agriculture Education Center, Merrick County Fairgrounds in Central City, Nebraska, starting at 9 a.m. with breakfast refreshments and time to visit with the vendors at the display booths.
