Every once in a while, you come across a story that just brings a tear to your eye and a smile to your face in a perfect blend of compassion and love. This story is exactly that kind of thing, having lost a grandmother, an aunt, and a great aunt to cancer there is a special place in my heart for those who battle cancer. And those who raise awareness selflessly and try to bring awareness to the striking reality that Pediatric cancer is unfortunately not as rare as we might think.
Congratulations and Thank You After a twenty-year career in the United States Air Force, MSG. Danyal (Palm) Metz (right) has retired and now shifts her focus back to her first love, horses and her husband Ian (left). Her love of horses was born right here at home in Central City as she learned life lessons that served her well in her career.

Master Sergeant Danyal M. Metz (née Palm) is retiring after a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Air Force. The daughter of Dennis and Diane Palm of Central City, Danyal grew up with a fiery passion for 4-H and showing horses, eventually winning the 2002 Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Exposition. She would go on to win multiple awards in equine events, taking that same passion and hardworking attitude with her when she decided to join the Air Force and serve her country.
Shaping our Scientific Future At Central City Public Schools, the science programs have drawn plenty of national attention in recent years and on Tuesday night it was easy to see why as students participated in the annual CCPS Science Fair. Among them was sophomore Luke McHargue who used his love of baseball as inspiration. (Story and photo by Ryan)

In the quiet but industrious halls of Central City High School, a remarkable program has been fostering the minds of young researchers, encouraging them to probe the everyday with a scientific lens. The school’s annual Science Fair, a bustling hub of academic excellence, not only displayed the school’s commitment to scientific exploration but also underscored its reputation as a leader in high school research. The event, held on Tuesday night, was a colorful showcase of the exceptional talent and rigorous academic pursuit of over 90 students from various science classes.

Central City has witnessed a remarkable story of faith, growth, and community service through the journey of Grace Bible Fellowship, under the leadership of Pastor Clint Chiles. In the grand scheme of local houses of worship, Grace Bible Fellowship remains the new kid on the block. Over the past decade the church has picked up steam. Under the guidance of Chiles and a dedicated congregation, Grace Bible Fellowship has begun to make a large impact in the community.
