Teachers Invited to Summer Soybean Institute

– The Nebraska Soybean Board is proud to announce its funding support for the upcoming 2024 Summer Soybean Institute (SSI), inviting twenty middle school and high school educators to delve into the fascinating world of soybeans. Hosted by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) in collaboration with local teacher leader collaboratives, this enriching institute will be held on May 29-30 and July 16-18.

Farmers of Merrick County - Don Ohlman

Green. John Deere Green specifically. It has been a part of Don Ohlman’s life for as long as he can remember. Growing up his dad, Fred, farmed with John Deere tractors. In fact, Fred’s first tractor was a John Deere B, bought during World War II. He had to have a permit which proved he needed a tractor and Fred paid $880.00 total for it. Don’s first John Deere tractor, which was a little more than $880.00, was a John Deere G in 1950.

High Plains boys look for continued track and field success in 2024

Community Heroes: Clarks Fire and Rescue honors Sandy Lindgreen following four decades of service

Sandra (Sandy) Lindgreen is retiring after 40 years of serving as an EMT on the Clarks community ambulance. Sandy is a Veteran serving from 1963 to 1967 as a medic. After her time in the military Sandy worked at St. Francis where she met her husband Morris Lindgreen after he had an accident and fell out of a tree. Sandy comedically points out “He couldn’t run away from me that’s for sure!” As she laughs while she recalls how she got introduced to emergency medicine on an ambulance in the first place.
