The end of 2023 brought with it holiday tournament action across the land with plenty of area success. Left to right from top left: For the Bison wrestling team it was a great showing in Ord for the annual dual tournament. The Bison finished perfect on the day as they secured a thrilling victory over Grand Island Northwest to bring home the dual tournament championship. At the Runza Holiday Classic the Lady Bison of Central City made a deep run as they finished runner-up following a loss to Cross County in the championship. It was the opposite for the Lady Storm as they battled into the championship and won the East Butler Holiday Tournament. The High Plains boys also battled their way into the finals of the tournament, but fell to a tough Walthill squad to finish runner-up. The Bison boys basketball team also found themselves in a tough battle, against undefeated Cozad. Truman Ryan led the squad with 15 points, but they would finish runner-up after a 61-52 defeat.

The Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association (NSWCA) has announced its 2024 Hall of Fame inductees, and among them is a name well-respected in the wrestling circles of Nebraska - Darin Garfield of Central City. His induction is not just an acknowledgment of his tactical prowess surrounding the mat but also a celebration of his deep-rooted commitment to family and the sport.
