The Nebraska Christian Eagles battled tough on Saturday as they were the last area volleyball team standing. In a thrilling showdown with Diller-Odell, the Lady Eagles had opportunities to end the match, but in the end they fell 3-2 to end the season. For Central City, the stakes were high: not only was it a chance to secure an outright district title, but it was also an opportunity to end a 27-year drought against their storied rivals, the Aurora Huskies.

The air was thick with tension in Clarks on Friday night as High Plains hosted Lawrence-Nelson in a down-to-the-wire battle in the opening round of the Class D2 playoffs. With each team fighting for survival, it came down to grit, determination, and a handful of crucial plays that tipped the scales in favor of the Storm. High Plains held on to edge Lawrence-Nelson by a razor-thin margin, 22-20, advancing to the next round where they’ll face a formidable Overton team on the road this Friday at 6 p.m.
