Nebraska Christian students place at Class C2 State Speech

Hadassah Rankin was a silver medalist in persuasive speaking along with Lincoln Grantham who was a silver medalist in humorous prose. Previously district runner-up the school qualified seven events for state. Persuasive speaking-Hadassah Rankin, serious prose-Brecken Yoder, oral interpretation of drama (OID)-Noah Fischer, Quentin Herman, Everett Hunnicutt, Luke Powell, Brecken Yoder, program oral interpretation (POI)-Hadassah Rankin, extemporaneous speaking-Carly Halbgewachs, humorous prose-Lincoln Grantham, informative speaking-Honey Rae Merchant who are all coached by Nicole Powell.

If you like jazz, big band, and swing music, be sure to attend the Flatwater Jazz Ensemble’s performance this coming Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Central City Performing Arts Center. Also featured at this concert will be the Central Nebraska Youth Jazz Ensemble, of which Central City High School student Cheyenne Veach is a part of.

Summer is near! It’s time for vacations, baseball, backyard BBQs, lake time, and swimming. While these are all great and fun activities, they don’t help with the dreaded ‘summer slide.’ The summer slide is well documented and known for losing academic skills, specifically reading skills, over the summer months.

Drew Perdew of Central City honored during Teacher Education Convocation

Drew Perdew of Central City was among 225 University of Nebraska- Lincoln undergraduate students officially admitted to teacher education programs during the 2024-25 academic year who were recognized at the second annual Teacher Education Convocation April 4 at Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall. Perdew is a sophomore in the secondary education (business, marketing and information technology) program.
