For many Central City residents Dr. E.T. Zikmund is a name that holds a lot of meaning and this past week many were sad to hear the news of Dr. Zikmund’s death at the age of 103. Dr. Zikmund began practicing in Central City in 1946 after completing a second tour of duty in the United States Navy.

Each year the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce helps continue one of our community’s greatest traditions as the annual Parade of Goblins makes a spooky return. This year the event was once again a success as hundreds of local children turned out in costume.

Each year thousands of youths from all across the United States make their way to Indianapolis Indiana for the National FFA Convention and Expo. Many of those students are there to be honored and this year 4,305 students were in attendance to receive their American FFA Degree.

Linda Jensen is a familiar face in our community due in part to her career with the City of Central City. Jensen is also a published author and on October 13, she was able to share her work with the community as she hosted a special book talk at the Good Life Center.

A windy Sunday afternoon sure didn’t stop the Central City Teammates Chapter from holding their 17th annual Harvest Hike event. The day gave mentors and mentees an opportunity to walk and thank those who donate each year to make the program possible.

Thursday night shopping has been a hit in the Central City community and the group will once again get ready for a big night of shopping ahead of a big weekend for local families.

From cowboys to lions, DECA and NHS students were dressed to the nines in their pursuit for canned goods. On October 23, several members of DECA and NHS drove about town dressed in Halloween costumes, trick or treating for canned goods for people in need.
