USAF Band ready to present free concert

Body The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band’s brass ensemble, will present a free concert on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 pm, at the Central City High School Performing Arts Center. Offutt Brass performs as a brass quintet with a percussionist, proudly showcasing the U.
Ready To Entertain Area residents can often find quality entertainment here in Central City thanks to the Merrick Arts Council, but they certainly will be in for a treat next Wednesday when the The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band’s brass ensemble, Offutt Brass, will present a free concert at the Performing Arts Center.

County Board holds meeting

Body Tuesday morning the Merrick County Board of Supervisors held their regularly scheduled meeting with a rather short agenda following months of budget, ARPA and Long Term renovation talks.

Body The beginning of October means the start of Elementary Leadership. Teacher’s have recommended 30 third and fourth grade students for the group, and through an application process, we have been able to narrow it down to 22 students for the year.

Clarks benefits from NFS tree donation

Body Thanks to a collaborative effort of the Nebraska Forest Service and Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, the Village of Clarks was awarded 10 Free Trees to plant in the community. TheArboretum provides the communities with trees that are already 4-8 feet in height and native to the area.

Nebraska Cattle On Feed Up 4%

Body Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.37 million cattle on feed on September 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was up 4% from last year.

2022 NE small Grain Acreage and Production

Body Winter wheat production is estimated at 26.2 million bushels, down 36% from last year, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The area harvested for grain totaled 820,000 acres, down 2% from 2021.
