Merrick County Historical Museum presents The Diary of a Merrick County Girl

On September 10th at 2:00 pm, the Merrick County Historical Museum held a special presentation carried out by Megan Sharpe on the diary of a Merrick County Girl, Louise Brage. With the artifacts themselves and much research into Louise and what she wrote in the journal, Megan Sharpe was able to tell us a story of a life from a different time.

Merrick Arts Council makes return this Sunday

Merrick Arts Council opens its 2023-24 season with violinist Olga Smola this Sunday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m. A professor from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Smola’s performance will feature a wide variety of styles and genres including Frank Sinatra, Broadway tunes, Elvis Presley, and many more. The performance will take place at the Central City Performing Arts Center, Edwin and Bernice Lock Theatre.

Bringing Houseplants Indoors Many houseplants thrive outside during summer, growing well with the brighter light intensity, but it will soon be time to bring them back indoors. Most plants grown as houseplants originated in the tropics, so nighttime temperatures dipping into the 40’s and 50’s F mean it’s time to bring them inside.

The Central City Police Department participated in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign

The Central City Police Department partnered with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the 2023 Labor Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over drunk-driving enforcement campaign. From August 16 through September 4, 2023, local law enforcement showed zero tolerance for impaired driving.
