CCVFD presented two local donations Library

The Central City Volunteer Fire Department held a meeting at Merrick Medical Center on Wednesday, October 11, and the meeting was for a special occasion for the department. The Central City FFA made a special appearance to present the fire department a special grain rescue tube. The Fire department was also awarded a donation from Bryan Health for the work they did when a sprinkler malfunctioned at the hospital.

EPIC or Inferior?

Monday night the Merrick County GOP hosted a night of spirited debate and information in regards to the proposed EPIC tax option that many are hoping to see replace the existing Nebraska tax system. The room was met with varying opinions of the plan while Brenda Bickford of Lincoln and Sen. Loren Lippincott of Central City spoke in regards to both the failures of the current tax system and the benefits of the EPIC tax option. The topic also came up during gubernatorial debates. New Partnership Brings Biodiesel to Husker Athletics and All of Nebraska

The Nebraska Soybean Board (NSB) has teamed up with Husker Athletics to promote and power the team buses with biodiesel for the ongoing school year and sports season. This innovative sponsorship officially launched as the college sports season kicked off this fall bringing exposure to the sustainable energy powering the Husker transportation fleet, which includes three passenger buses.
