Individuals who are superstitious may keep careful eyes on the calendar so they know just when the thirteenth day of the month lands on a Friday. In 2022, May is the only month with a Friday the 13th. There won’t be another Friday the 13th until January 2023.

On Monday night the City Council of Central City met for their regularly scheduled meeting with a short, but important agenda as they looked to wrap up items discussed in their September meeting while also looking towards the future.

Each year preparing the next budget year can be the most stressful time of the year, but that was amplified this year for the Merrick County Supervisors and officials as they navigated discrepancies and budget cuts down to the final hour. On Tuesday morning, with great relief, that was all put to an end, for the most part. Public hearings were held in regards to both the budget and the task asking with no questions coming from the public. It was stated that the budget would need to be republished after small adjustments were made, but those adjustments would not affect the tax request.
