Central City United Methodist Church hosts annual Prayer Walk at CCHS

The Central City United Methodist Church held its annual prayer walk at the Central City High School Preferred Popcorn track on Sunday, August 18th. Led by Pastor Francis Kinyua, members of the congregation walked “Jericho-style” seven times around the track, with each lap representing a specific prayer or need for the local school and schools nationwide.

Central City police department to enforce “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign during Labor Day

Central City, NE – As the Labor Day holiday approaches, the Central City Police Department is gearing up to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors with a focused effort on preventing impaired driving. The department has been awarded funding to participate in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilization campaign, which will run from Friday, August 16, 2024, through Monday, September 2, 2024.

From planning routes to ensuring the buses and other vehicles are in top shape, his role is both important and indispensable.

A Welcome Back to School Adventure

Benny Bison stood at the edge of his family’s meadow, his hooves shuffling nervously in the soft earth. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting long shadows across the rolling hills. Today was the first day of school, and Benny was feeling a knot of anxiety twist in his stomach. He had spent the whole summer playing basketball in his favorite forest green and Vegas gold jersey, but the thought of returning to school filled him with unease.

The chamber is having a little break from the flurry of activities in July but 2024 keeps marching right along and we are looking ahead to what will be happening the rest of this year. But first we must recognize and thank our chamber members who helped make our 4-H appreciation breakfast last week a grand success.
