The holiday season is upon us once more, and Central City’s very own Kirby Mousel will be spreading Christmas cheer all around with his very own professional Santa Claus persona. Known as The Santa Claus, Mousel has combined his artistic passion with his love for spreading Christmas magic.

Central City High School student Dakota Sage is making waves in environmental science, earning a grant of nearly $6,000 in laboratory equipment to support her research on using mushrooms to combat pesticide contamination in water. Sage’s innovative work aims to address a critical issue with far-reaching implications for both human and environmental health.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation has scheduled a public hearing to present the preliminary design and draft Environmental Assessment for the proposed Central City Viaduct project. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Performing Arts Center at Central City High School and Middle School. It will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6 p.m., followed by an open house until 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, the staff at Central City Elementary transformed the cafeteria into a cozy Thanksgiving restaurant for their students. This heartwarming tradition, started just last year, returned by popular demand after overwhelming student enthusiasm.
