Spelling champs in the 5th-6th grade division was Nebraska Christian 6th grader Jayden Leonard, while Central City 6th grader Tanner Belitz took runner-up. Central City 8th grader Alyssa Belitz won the championship, with Nebraska Christian 8th grader Benjamin Janssen coming in second.

Things looked bright for several members of the Central City Bison DECA Chapter during the DECA districts last week. On January 26th, DECA Members Jack Avila, Julia Buss, and Caleb Rowe all attended the District DECA Invite in Lincoln and competed in their own respective business events. Both Rowe and Avila competed in the Accounting Applications event, and Buss competed in the Human Resources Management event. During districts, the participants compete in mock scenarios in their respective business applications which can vary from marketing to accounting. “Competition was challenging, but the overall experience of competition was very enjoyable,” Avila stated. Rowe finished in 1st place and Avila finished in 2nd place in their event! It was a great day of learning and competition!
