Council congregates for December meeting

On the cold, windy night of December 9, the City Council of Central City convened for their monthly meeting. Many crucial topics were discussed, all with the goal of benefiting the town of Central City. These topics ranged from declaring the two problematic buildings on G Street as dangerous, approving a loan to purchase a new firetruck, and even (potential) increases for utility prices.

The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office is awarded a highway safety grant to assist in obtaining two mobile radar units. The Sheriff’s Office was awarded the funding to help prevent traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities at various locations throughout the area.

This Thanksgiving, the streets of Central City were silent. Very few cars were on the road, and there wasn’t hardly a soul outside.

Everyone was celebrating what they were thankful for with their families, so there wasn’t a need to go outside in the cold weather.

Families all around were warmly welcoming friends and relatives for a day of feasting and thanks, and when it comes to the feast the St. Michael’s Catholic Church put on this year, their welcome couldn’t have been warmer.
