With the hope of bringing families from different church’s together for worship Mark Perry (l) along with other organized a special worship service at Nebraska Christian. The first speaker to share messages that evening was Carl Ostrand (r) a teacher and coach at Nebraska Christian.

10 Years Ago Shari Peters was recently honored in Lincoln at the Nebraska Hospital Association Annual Convention. Shari was one of 7 finalists at Litzenberg and was ultimately named the 2014 Caring Kind Recipient.

Nebraska Christian hosts community worship service

On Sunday, November 3, Nebraska Christian School hosted a special evening worship service in the school gymnasium, bringing together students, families, and community members for a time of worship and reflection. Organized by many, including Mark Perry, the event created a unifying atmosphere where people could sing, pray, and focus on their faith as one community.

Merrick County Historical Society to host speaker

Stories of the pioneering spirit and conviction that populated this area will be shared when Merrick County Historical Museum hosts Nancy Martson Bond’s delivery of her presentation entitled, “Finding Peace in Merrick County after the Civil War”. Her illustrated narration will follow a brief meeting of the Museum’s Membership, slated for 2:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, November 10 at the Venture Center meeting room.

Central City debates dog park proposal amid health, safety, and funding concerns

The Central City Council recently opened discussions about establishing a dog park, a topic that surfaced through the community needs survey, according to City Administrator Chris Anderson. The public hearing, led by Mayor Tim Bolling, saw active engagement from residents. Robin Bogatz was the first to address the council, stating, “We need a safe place to take our dogs to let off some energy and get exercise. You can say ‘walk your dog’ all you want, but when I walked my dog the other day, in the three miles we walked, several different free-roaming dogs came up on me and my dog, and one even followed me home.”

Kay (Broekemeier) Dent inducted into Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame

The Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed an exceptional new member into its ranks on October 26, as Central City alumna Kay (Broekemeier) Dent was honored for her stellar collegiate career and lifetime of dedication to athletics. Among six individuals and two celebrated teams inducted this year, Kay’s legacy of athletic achievement and leadership shines bright, from her early years at Central City High School through her accomplishments at Hastings College and now as a mentor to the next generation of athletes.
