Central Community College has announced the names of fulltime students who earned spots on the President’s and Dean’s honor lists for the 2024 fall semester. Students on the President’s Honor List earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average while students on the Dean’s Honor List earned a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99.

The Nebraska Soybean Board (NSB) is seeking soybean farmers interested in filling two of Nebraska’s four director positions with the United Soybean Board (USB), for a three-year term. “Nebraska farmers have always been leaders in shaping the future of the soybean industry, and serving on the United Soybean Board is an incredible opportunity to make an even greater impact,” says Andy Chvatal, NSB executive director.

Nebraska corn stocks in all positions on December 1, 2024 totaled 1.36 billion bushels, up 1% from 2023, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 830 million bushels are stored on farms, down 7% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 532 million bushels, are up 16% from last year.

The Rural Mainstreet Index, a key measure of economic health in agriculture-dependent areas, continued its downward trend in January, offering little reassurance for Nebraska’s farmers. For the 16th time in the past 17 months, the index remained below the growth-neutral level of 50, indicating ongoing struggles across the region.
