Have you heard about AI? If you haven’t then I’m not sure how because the craze is certainly picking up traction. These days you have to question what is real around every corner of the internet, largely due to AI.

A short time ago I had the privilege of reading the meanings associated with the folding of the American Flag to some elementary students at the Fullerton City Library. I was sincerely touched by their attention and reverence as the American Legion Veterans folded Old Glory.

Editor: Someone should get the pond west of swimming pool drained, it used to be a good spot to go fishing, but all I see is a lot who fish there spend most of the time fixing broken lines after losing hooks, weights, etc.! Even me losing a lot of fishing gear!

Welcome back and I hope as you are flipping the pages of this newspaper you are doing so with all ten of your fingers. Or however many you had before Independence Day 2023. The weather put a damper on what was an otherwise great weekend with plenty of things happening around Central City.

Editor: Where is your happy place? It was so good to see my name in the 60 years ago column. The best thing is I can still remember the Girls State Song.

In our U.S Air Force fighter squadron before going on a mission -- whether it was an air-to-ground bombing sortie or an air-to-air dogfi ght mission -- we would brief up the flight to ensure all pilots were focused on the mission objectives.

Independence Day is quickly approaching and that means that ball season is beginning to wrap up for all the little guys and gals out there in the community. This year has been a bit different then we had expected with child #1 injured and child #3 playing his first season of tee ball.

There are two committees in the Nebraska Legislature that deal primarily with money. The Appropriations Committee doles out the money, whereas the Revenue Committee works at getting your money (think taxes).
