Here we are already, now just days away from an annual graduation ceremony. Just like that, in the blink of an eye, the school year has already passed and we now prepare to wish the Class of 2023 the best as they take off into the real world.

In the wake of the heartbreaking defeat of LB626, better known as the Heartbeat Bill, I want to express my thanks for the letters, emails and messages of support for the bill I have received from constituents. As suggested by the name, this bill would have restricted abortions once a heartbeat was detected in the unborn baby. The bill fell one vote short of receiving a cloture vote which would have allowed the bill to receive an up or down vote.

This Thursday, May 4 is Go Big Give day. This 24 hour giving event is a great way to support businesses and organizations that provide services in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick counties.

Working together to increase student achievement is a goal for Central City Public Schools. Since September, we have had a dedicated team of teachers and students working three days a week to increase student learning. While many of the student’s school days end at 3:10, a group of students from first through fourth grade remain at school to receive educational enrichment opportunities.

Confused about Kindergarten, 7th grade and sports physicals for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year? Hopefully after reading the below information, things will be a little clearer! All incoming kindergarten students are required to have a physical within 6 months prior to entering school in August. The physical may include additional immunizations.
