Body A handful of people turned out to the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Central City Public Schools last Monday night to hear from county leaders about the reasoning behind the increase in Merrick County’s tax request for the 2025– 2026 fiscal year.

PALMER TO HOST FALL FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Body The Palmer Community Club will host its 2025 Back in My Day Fall Festival from Thursday, September 25th through Sunday, September 28th, bringing four days of activities to western Merrick County. The festival begins Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Museum working to develop prairie

Body The Merrick County Historical Museum is currently in the middle of a native prairie grass restoration project at its new home. The museum board and its director hope the project will be a boon to area students and all those interested in learning about Nebraska’s native prairie.

Body MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 Officer responded to a traffic complaint in the 1600 block 16th Avenue, disposition unknown. Officer responded to 1900 block of 15th Avenue for a theft Complaint, no suspects at this time.

Homework: Too much or not enough

Body The mothers in my office do not look forward to the starting of school because of the busy balance of homework, music lessons, other after-school activities, and sports activities. But as students head back to school it is definitely time to think about homework.

Area FFA chapters give back

Body Nebraska and Iowa FFA chapters united to help feed those in need in Hall, Hamilton, Howard, and Merrick Counties during Husker Harvest Days.
