Magnolias, Old Dirt Road reunite in Central City

Magnolias Boutique, LLC and Old Dirt Road reunited in a new location earlier this year, and the owners say that things are going well. The businesses moved into 802 C Avenue, the former home of the Republican-Nonpareil, in early 2026.

Lodging tax returns rebound

Following three straight years of decline, lodging tax receipts in Merrick County saw a slight rebound in 2025. According to local government data released by the Nebraska Department of Revenue earlier this year, in 2025, Merrick County collected $7,031.13 in lodging tax receipts.

The Nebraska Christian Eagles dominated Tuesday’s Mansfield Invitational at Boone Central High School, winning sixteen gold medals, coming away with forty-eight top-six finishes, and winning both the boys’ and girls’ overall team competition.

Every family needs to set their own guidelines for studying at home, according to Renette Wardlow, human development specialist, University of Missouri Extension. “Differences in guidelines occur because of the different ages of students,” said Wardlow.
