Grand opening planned for sometime next month Early this month, the Merrick County Historical Museum (MCHM) officially opened for regular hours at its new location on 28th Street in Central City. The March 3rd “soft opening” sees the museum operating from 9:00 a.m.

It was a week full of fun, laughter, and plenty of books at the elementary school as students and staff celebrated Read Across America Week. The week is always a special time dedicated to encouraging students to read for fun—and this year’s activities definitely delivered.

THE GRAND ISLAND ELKS NO. 604 presented the Central City junior wrestling program with a check for $400.00. This is to help purchase singlets for the girl wrestlers. The Elks also donate dictionaries to third graders in area schools.

Wayne State College included 1,300 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Fall 2025 semester. Students listed on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
