NWTF starts local chapter

Body Central City is now home to a new chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), which has convened twice to elect board members and initiate its mission.

Garcia retires as local Postmaster

Body Edwin Garcia, who has dedicated 16 years of service as the postmaster for Central City and neighboring areas, is set to retire. Marking the end of an era, his last day, January 12th, coincided with the severe snowstorm that battered Merrick County and much of the Midwest.

Reducing Radon Decreases Exposure to Lung Cancer

Body Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services More than 21,000 lung cancer deaths a year are from exposure to radon gas, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Nebraska is third in the nation with the potential for high radon levels behind Iowa and Pennsylvania.
