Steven Keith Blodgett

Steven K. Blodgett, 72, of Central City, died on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. There was a special time of remembrance for Steve at the State Theatre on Tuesday, May 14th at 7:00 p.m. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.

Steven Keith Blodgett was born on September 30, 1951 to Keith and Catherine (Bolling) Blodgett in Central City. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1969. Steven and Dawn (Killion) Blodgett were united in marriage on September 3, 1971 in Polk. Shortly after his graduation from high school, Steve began working for the Union Pacific Railroad. His career with the railroad would last over 40 years, until his retirement in 2012. Steve also worked for many years at the State Theatre in Central City, and in 1987 he began running it. He continued running the historical State Theatre until 2012.
Steve was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way (BMW) Lodge #473. He was the secretary-treasurer for many years for the lodge. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, and looking for good deals at garage sales. He would always take his daily drive with his beloved companion Lucy as well.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dawn of Central City; his sons, Jamie (Lea Beal) Blodgett of Central City, Benjamin (Heather) Blodgett of Central City, Daniel (Gaby) Blodgett of Fontana, CA, and Jonathan (Kasey) Blodgett of Central City; his siblings, Linda, Tom, Thad, Ken, Pat, Kirk, and Craig Blodgett; his beloved and faithful companion, Lucy; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.
