Georgea “Georg” L. Hood, 69, of Central City, died at her home on October 4, 2026.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Clint Chiles officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.

Interment will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Georg was born on January 9, 1957 in Omaha to Karol L. and Evelyn J. (Mills) Hood.

She grew up in Omaha until 1967 when her family moved to Wood River. She graduated from Wood River High School in 1975. Following her graduation she attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for one year, before moving back to Wood River.

While in Wood River, Georg worked at Union 76 in Alda for several years. In 1983 she moved to Marquette, and began working for Equitable Building and Loan in Grand Island. She then got a job with Principal Financial Group, where she worked for over twenty-five years.

In 2009 she moved to Central City to be closer to her son Josh and his family. She worked at St. Francis Hospital in the admission department in Grand Island until her retirement in 2019.

She also volunteered for many years at the State Theater in Central City.

Georg was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was active with the United Methodist Women, Red Hat Society including a trip to England, Stephens ministry, and Toast Masters. She also was an avid collector of everything “Bear” related.

Throughout her life she took great enjoyment in watching her son participate in activities missing only one football game from seventh grade through his senior year of college. Georg continued that passion and attended the majority of her grandchildren’s multiple sporting activities.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Josh (Sarah) Hood of Central City; her brother, K. Randy (Renee) Hood of Lee Summit, Missouri; her sister, Lori Hood of Clarks; her grandchildren, Kaleb, Ella, and Liam; and her niece and nephew, Kasia Hood and Kenyon (MacKenzie) Hood.

Georg was preceded in death by her parents, Karol and Evelyn; Multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.
