January 14, 1942 - February 3, 2025

Sondra Van Pelt passed from this life on Monday, February 3, 2025, into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. Graveside services for Sondra were held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Union Springs Cemetery, Shongaloo, LA. Interment was under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Sondra was born on January 14, 1942 to H.H. “Boots” and Delphene Johnston in Louisiana. She married Gene Teutsch, a young man from a nearby farm family. After the passing of Gene, Sondra met and married James Jay Van Pelt (Jay) on October 26, 1984. They lived in Hordville where they remained until after Jay’s passing. In April of 2024, Sondra returned to the place of her roots, Louisiana. While living in Hordville, Sondra was an active member of the community and the Baptist Church. She also enjoyed accompanying Jay on his many cross country trips in his truck.

Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Ronnie and Randall Johnston,several brother in laws and sister in laws. She is survived by her sister, Sue Kilpatrick(Hershel), step children Gale Van Pelt Miller, Craig Van Pelt and Kevin Van Pelt, step grandchildren and great grandchildren, several brother in laws and sister in laws and many nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by many of her friends and family members.
