Samuel Edward Mousel, 71, of Grand Island died Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Grand Island Regional Medical Center in Grand Island surrounded by his family.

Funeral services were Monday, October 7, 2024 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City, Nebraska at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bill L’Heureux officiating.

Visitation was Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the church.

Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral. com. Sam was born on May 27, 1953 to Gilbert S. and Mary A. (Sautter) Mousel in Hays, Kansas. He grew up in the Hastings area attending Juniata Elementary School. He then attended Adams Central High School and on to Central Community College in Hastings. He entered the United States Navy in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1978. Sam married Roberta Marisch on June 29, 1982 in Grand Island and to this union, 7 children were born.

Sam lived and worked in Grand Island where he did plumbing and installed fire sprinklers. After his retirement, he enjoyed clay shooting with the boys, gardening, canning, woodworking, watching Westerns and John Wayne movies. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Sam was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City and the Knights of Columbus (3rd and 4th Degree). He was also a member of the American Legion Post #6 in Central City.

He is survived by his children- Aaron Mousel and significant other – Tara Osterholt of Sioux City, IA; Angela (Sean) Wemhoff of North Bend; Aric (Alli) Mousel of Omaha.; Alex (Destiny) Mousel of Henderson; Andrew Mousel of Omaha; Abigail Mousel of Omaha; brothersandsistersRodney(Kathryn)MouselofHolstein; sisterSheila (Mousel) Nielsen of Hastings; Gregory (Rachel) Lukow of Culpeper, VA; Julia(Ted)LaneofOmaha; Rex(Kristin)LukowofHolstein; Stanley (Bobbi Jo) Lukow of Lincoln.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; step father- Clayton Lukow; daughter- Audrey Mousel; nephew- Tim Lane; and brother in law- Niels Nielsen.
