LeRoy Allan Sheets, 91, passed away on April 2, 2025 at the Veterans Home in Kearney surrounded by family. Funeral services were Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Community Bible Church in Central City with Pastors Gil Larsen and Dale Janzen officiating. Visitation was Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Church. Burial was in the Omaha National Cemetery.

com. He was born September 2, 1933 in a farmhouse east of Kennard to Will and Mable (Lund) Sheets.
LeRoy graduated from Blair High School in 1952, and served in the Army from 1953-1955 at Fort Campbell, KY. He married Alice Cowan December 22, 1953. The couple resided in Clarson, TN while LeRoy served in the Army.
After discharging from the Army LeRoy and Alice moved to Fremont where LeRoy worked for Hormel. In 1959, LeRoy joined the Nebraska State Patrol and moved to Grand Island and then to Central City. Following his retirement from the Nebraska State Patrol, LeRoy then worked for the Girl Scouts at Camp Cosmopolitan until he retired again. LeRoy continued working for Casey’s part-time for 10 years.
LeRoy drove the Senior Citizen handi-bus for 20 years, he was a member of the Central City Council for 16 years, and a member of the Community Bible Church. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved spending time with his family.
LeRoy is survived by his 5 children Clay (Barbara) Sheets of Blair; Elder (Judy) Sheets of Stromsburg; Peggy Ellingson of Kearney; Jonica (Ken) Wampler of Palmer; Jo Weiss of Kearney; grandchildren- Carrie Sheets, Heather (Ryan) Lambert, Jamie (Rachel) Rapp, Elisabeth Sheets, Chuck Sheets, Mark (Sherry Lilenthal) Sheets, Clint (Melissa) Ellingson, Brett Ellingson, Jeremiah (Brittney) Ellingson, Eve (Jeremy) Essary, Jon (Macy) Wampler, Brad Weiss, Cassi Weiss, Lacy (Andelson) Tocong, and Anna (Tanner) Tillman, 34 great-granchildren and 2 great-great children; one sister, Loretta Kleckner, and brother-in-law, Leo Goreham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Alice; his son-in-law, Galen Ellingson; great-great grandson, Daxx Sheets; his parents, Will and Mable Sheets; sisters Elizabeth (John) Lodges, Hazel (Ed) Richmond, Xona (Walt) Groves, Iona (Leonard) Goreham, Ines Goreham, Dorena Dalton; Herald (Gretchen, Virginia, Lea) Sheets, Gerald (Mildred) Sheets, Wilford (Darlene) Sheets, Milford (Ramona) Sheets, and Lenard (Jackie) Sheets.
