Jack R. Neel, 84, of Clarks, died on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at CHI Heath—St. Francis in Grand Island, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Central City with Pastor Erik Hart officiating. Burial was held at Bureau Cemetery near Pierce Chapel in Clarks.

Jack was born on July 18, 1941 in Central City to Glen and Doris (Beck) Neel. He attended District 25 School and graduated from Clarks High School in May 1960. He attended Norfolk Junior College and played football and ran track.

Jack entered the United States Army on January 18, 1964 and was honorably discharged on January 22, 1966 after serving in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry. Jack was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was confirmed in 1966.

Jack married Sally Sweet at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Central City on May 22, 1966. To this union three daughters were born, Cambren Sue, Kelly Ann, and Corinne Rae. Jack and Sally farmed near Clarks raising hogs, cattle, and row crops.

Jack’s greatest love was being with his family and having grandchildren on the farm with him in the summer and on their school breaks helping out with farm work.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sally; daughters, Cammie (Doug) Sindelar of Waverly, Kelly (Steve) Halleen of Lincoln, and Corinne Neel of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Brett (Traci) Halleen, Nicolas (fiancé Jena) Halleen, Grant Sindelar, and Brooke Sindelar; and one brother, Ron (Judi) Neel of Castle Pines, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; and sister- in-law, Jean; and in-laws, Alfred and Rita Sweet.
