Gloria McMahon Jones

Gloria McMahon Jones passed from this world February 22, 2023, a week beyond her 93rd Valentine’s Day birthday.

A dual celebrations will be held in Tampa, Florida for Gloria and her granddaughter, Roselyn Marie Snow, who passed two days prior.

Born in 1930 on a farmstead 5 miles west of Central City, she graduated CC High School with the class of 1948.

Mother met Wilbur Harding (Casey) Jones in Dec. 1947, stating, ’Love at First Sight’! Married June 19, 1949, a large formal wedding was held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Gloria was a devoted mother. Their first miracle, David, was born in 1950, followed by Georgia, Vance and Angela, each being 2 years apart.

Through the years all who knew Gloria remarked of her inspiration and of her infectious laughter.

Travel they did! David provided Airline (non-revenue) passes on Frontier and TWA Airlines and Vance, employed by US Airways in excess of 50 years, provided similar benefits.

Gloria was a friend to everyone she met. The Jones family were boating and camping enthusiasts since 1960 with frequent weekend trips to Sherman & Harlan Dam and countless lake trips with GI Boat Club. Once Gloria performed in a waterski show seated on a chair atop a 4-foot wooden disk skimming across the water pulled by motorboat…..

Gloria and Casey purchased new BMW Motorcycle in 1978 and once again camping reigned prominent as they traveled to Bike Rallies across USA, camping gear stowed on Motorcycle, away months at a time. In 1994 both motorcycles were sold due to Casey’s heart condition, but this encouraged purchase of a motorhome spending winters in Florida, plus Mother loved spending time with Gee Girls in Arizona!

Survived by son David and Kathy of Keller, TX, his daughters Megan & Melissa of Louisville KY and two grandchildren; Georgia’s son Darin Burch of New York City, daughter Cara Jewell of Lexington KY; Vance and sons Derek and Mathew and daughter Heather Louise of Birmingham, AL and six grandchildren; Angela Snow & daughter Cassey Elizabeth of Tampa, FL.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; Ed & Mary McMahon; sisters Marie Gee Haith and Roselia Stanislav & brother Dallas McMahon; husband Casey; daughter Georgia; daughter-in-law Joanne Jones; son-in-law Robert Snow; infant grandson Casey Lee Snow; and recently a grandchild, Roselyn Marie Snow.

A peaceful passing, Gloria occasionally took a vitamin as the only medicine consumed in her long life. Gloria lived in Tampa FL with her daughter Angela Snow since 2016.
