Doris M. Pavlik was born July 28, 1933, to Chester and Minnie Branner in Joliet, Illinois. She had a sister Lorraine and a brother George. At six weeks of age, Doris developed a life-threatening medical condition that was risky at the time. She went on to attend St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Joliet.
In the early 1950’s, Doris worked at a factory in Joliet making sonar panels for submarines. Later she worked for Illinois Bell Telephone as a long-distance operator at a time when connecting calls was still a manual operation.
She met Richard Pavlik of Verdigre through a mix-up in Army mail. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. They were married on October 29, 1954, in Creighton. Richard and Doris lived in Florida briefly before moving to Joliet, where Richard worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company where he was employed until 1992.
A son, Bryan, was born to Richard and Doris in 1963. She enjoyed the outdoors and gardening and spent her years as a homemaker. Doris also did a considerable amount of sewing.
Doris is survived by her son, Bryan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her sister, Lorraine Weil; and brother, George Branner.
