| Derik Richard Brummet |
It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Derik Richard Brummet, better known by many as “Uncle Buck.”
Derik left us on August 21, 2025, at the age of forty-two. Born in Kearney, Derik was someone who could light up any room. He had a laugh you couldn’t forget, a smile that made you feel welcome, and a way of making everyone around him feel like family.
More than anything, Buck loved his family— especially his son, Skyler (“Sky Guy”), who was his greatest pride and joy. He loved being a dad, a husband, a brother, and an uncle, and he gave his whole heart to the people he loved most.
Buck leaves behind his loving wife, April, and his son, Skyler. He is also survived by his sisters, Heather (Cyrus) White Bull, Nicole Brummet, and Kali (Wyatt) Jansen; his nieces and nephews; along with many extended family members and countless friends who became like family.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his dad, Mike Brummet; his mom, Linda Shaw; and grandparents, Richard and Mary Brummet and Ralph and Opal Johnson.
A Celebration of Life in Buck’s honor will be held Friday, August 29th at 1818 Lakeview Drive in Central City at 10:30 a.m. An inurnment of ashes will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be directed to www.livson. com.
