Barbara Jean Blauhorn September 27, 1936 - February 19, 2025

Barbara Jean Blauhorn, 88, of Palmer, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Tiffany Square in Grand Island. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Archer Zion United Methodist Church with Pastor Gordon Paulsen officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, February 24th from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held at the Archer Evangelical Community Cemetery.

com. Barbara was born on the family farm near Shelton, on September 27, 1936 to LeRoy and Loretta (Cox) Schutt. She attended Districts 32 and 13 country schools until she transferred to Shelton High School, graduating with the class of 1954. She then worked at the Ultry Talbert Co. as a typist. On January 6, 1957 she was united in marriage to Orville Blauhorn at Archer Zion United Methodist Church. She stayed home to raise their three children; Terry, Bill, and Susan.

Barbara was a member of the Archer Zion United Methodist Church, and was active for many years with the United Methodist Women. She held several different positions on the Local, District and Conference levels. She taught Sunday School at church as well as beingthesuperintendentofkids. Shewasanactivevolunteerserving as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, a 4-H Leader, helping with the Blood Mobile and at the Thrift Store. Barbara was also involved as a teacher’s aide for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. It would put a smile on her face when the kids would recognize her out in public. She also enjoyed baking. Her specialties were her cookies, cupcakes, and cinnamon rolls for everyone at school and as well as her family to enjoy. She helped organize P.A.L Extension Club, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #120, Palmer Women’s Club, Merrick County Foundation Board, and Loup County Election Board.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Terry (Nancy) Blauhorn of Palmer, William (Sandra) Blauhorn of Palmer, and Susan (John) Bulling of Lincoln, her 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother; Robert Schutt and daughter-in-law; Valda Blauhorn.
