Jeannie M. Wilder, 99, of Aqua Dulce, CA, died December 24, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. A Celebration Of Life and burial was held January 17th, 2023 in Newhall, CA.
Jeanette Mrytle Lindgreen was born on June 25, 1923, in Merrick County, to George Washington Lindgreen and Jeanette (Nettie) Josephine Sporer Lindgreen Reeves. She was the baby of the family. Siblings included Virginia (Cort) Botts, Bub (Edith) Lindgreen, Deva (Leo) Ellison, and Oletha (Phill) Nelson. Jeannie grew up on the family farm, west of Central City. She attended Central City High School and graduated with the class of 1940. Jeannie attended Nebraska Central College before marrying Dean Mahlon Wilder on June 12, 1941 in Central City. They had four children, David Dean, William Doug, Tawna Marie, and Tab George.
Central City was home for Dean and Jeannie after marriage and while Dean served in the military during WWII (1944-1946). Three of their four children were born in Nebraska. When a job opportunity became available in California after the war, they moved their family to North Hollywood, California and later to their permanent home in Sylmar, CA They became owners of Astromatic, a machine parts bushiness in the San Fernando Valley around 1952. Jeannie was very involved in the business, as well as being a housekeeper, and raising their 4 children. She was hostess to ALL of her “Out of State” family. Everyone was always welcome to visit for some California sunshine!! They also traveled frequently, bringing their children and grandchildren “home to the farm” in Central City. In 2002, she was involved in a serious car accident where she lost her beloved husband, Dean. She eventually moved into a “granny suite” in her daughter, Tawna’s home in Aqua Dulce, CA, where she remained until her passing at 99 & 1/2 years of age.
Those cherishing her memory are her children David (Mary Ann), Doug, Tawna (Gary), Tab (Lynn) and their families, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grand children, and 4 great great grand children. Those relatives in the Central City area include Ruth Ellison Gillan and family, Gary (Eddy) Lindgreen and family, Maurice (Sandy) Lindgreen and family, and Bub Cordson and family. Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, all of her siblings & spouses.
