Marlene M. Larson
Marlene M. Larson, 87, of Stromsburg, entered eternal life with her savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Bryan Medical Center— West in Lincoln. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Mary Scott officiating. Interment was in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg.

Marlene was born on July 28, 1938, in Polk, to Forrest and Mildred (Dick) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm west of Stromsburg, and attended grade school at Polk County District #12. She attended and graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1955.
She then went on to the University of Nebraska— Lincoln and got her bachelor’s degree in education and later got her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. On June 14, 1959, Marlene was united in marriage to Wallace “Wally” Larson in Polk.
Marlene began her teaching career in Lexington and then Central City. In 1966, they moved to Stromsburg where she continued to teach for twenty-four years. Marlene retired from teaching in 1998, but continued to be a substitute teacher for several years in Stromsburg and the surrounding communities.
Marlene enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening, traveling, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was an active member of the Stromsburg community and the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg.
Marlene is survived by her children, Scott (Terri) Larson of Stromsburg, Steve (Jody) Larson of Stromsburg, and Shelli (Craig) Hackenkamp of Stromsburg; sister, Cheryl (Tom) Kess of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; sisters-inlaw, Marlene Spires of Central City and Marjorie Anderson of Lincoln; grandchildren, Tyler, Lacey, Emily, Brandon, Ashley, Justin, Chase, and Kayla; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Larson; parents, Forrest and Mildred Anderson; grandson, Mickey Larson; granddaughter, Lindsay Larson; brother, Dr. Dale Anderson; and brother-in-law, Frank Spires.
