Lucas “Lyle” Djernes, 89, of Central City died Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Bryan West in Lincoln. Graveside services will be Friday, April 18, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Central City Cemetery with Pastor Jim Garfield officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.

Lyle was born on April 24, 1935 to Lucas and Llewella (Ehrsam) Djernes in Marquette. He grew up in the Marquette area and attended Marquette grade schools. He then graduated from Central City High School. He married Mary Lou Flodman on January 2, 1955 in Hordville. Lyle helped his Dad on the family farm near Central City and later started an engine repair business which became Lyle’s Repair. He was still active in his business up until the time of his death. Lyle enjoyed antique cars, motorcycles, and tractors. He also enjoyed going to auctions and spending his evenings reading.

He is survived by his wife- Mary Lou; four sons- Leon (Amy) Djernes of Grand Island; Ralph (Chris) Djernes of Central City; Rory (Lori) Djernes of Grand Island; and Matt (Mechell) Djernes of Central City; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; brother- Edgar Djernes; sister- Melva Rae Brisino; and great grandchildren- Addison Grace Djernes, Brooklyn Sue Djernes, and Asher Morriss.
