Leslie “Les” Beck, 79 of Clarks died Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, Nebraska with Pastor Nancy Spearow officiating. Visitation was Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery near Clarks.

com. Leslie was born on February 16, 1945 to Harold and Viola (Tyler) Beck in Central City. He grew up in Clarks attending country school and graduating from Clarks High School. He married Sally Persons on May 29, 1966 in Clarks.

Leslie loved farming with his father, Harold. Later, he took great pride in farming with his son, David, and grandson, Kyle. He was a man behind the scenes, assisting many in the community as well as the Merrick County Historical Society and Pierce Chapel Methodist Church. You could always count on Leslie, his word was his bond.

Leslie was a member of the National Guard. He was also a member of the Methodist Church at Pierce Chapel and the American Legion Post 6 of Central City. He served as the Clarks Public School Board President for numerous years. He didn’t take much leisure time, but, ballroom dancing was a favorite past time. Leslie also loved working in land development.

He is survived by his son -David and Sheila Beck of Clarks; and his daughter Erinn and Dan Keefe of Jeffersonville, IN; 5 grandchildren-Kyle (Katelyn) Beck, Rachel (Josh) Buettner; Kolby Beck; Treyce and Madison Machacek; 2 great grandchildren- Kimber and Kinzlee Beck; brother- H. Lynn Beck of St. Louis Missouri; sisters- Shannon Zegar of Central City; Shelli Voichoski of Columbus; and Sheri Topinka of Central City.

Leslie was preceded in death by his former wife - Sally Persons Beck; his father -Harold Beck; Mother and Stepdad - Viola and Walt Johnston.
