Dwain L. Olsen, 78, of Polk, formerly of Central City, died on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at CHI-St. Francis in Grand Island. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Mark Hartley officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #6.

Dwain was born on March 7, 1945 to George and Ruby (Johnston) Olsen in Central City. He attended Central City Schools. Following his schooling Dwain enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from February 23, 1966 to February 2, 1969. While in the service, he served overseas in Germany. When Dwain returned home, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Harlow in Central City on May 27, 1972. They made their home in Central City where he began working for Fairacres in Grand Island. He then began driving truck for Atlas moving and storage until getting a job with Overland Sand and Gravel. He would work for Overland’s for 34 years, until his retirement in 2007. They remained in Central City until a couple of years ago when they moved to Polk.

Dwain enjoyed building model semis and working on cars in his younger years. His greatest love was spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathleen of Polk, his son; Mitch (Lynn) Olsen of Polk, his sister; Georgetta Platt of Grand Island, his brothers; Victor (Linda) Olsen of Kearney, George James (Marlene) Olsen of Grand Island, and Gordon (Lorna) Olsen of Stromsburg, and 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
