On October 1st, 2024, the Merrick County Fairgrounds transformed into a lively hub of exploration and discovery as the annual K-2nd Grade STEM Field Day, hosted by Nebraska Extension, brought together 278 young students from across the region. Children from Central City, Palmer, High Plains, and Nebraska Christian schools gathered with eager anticipation, ready to dive into hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Last Friday, High Plains Community Schools capped off a day filled with celebration by crowning Hudson Urkoski and Rylee Ackerson as the 2024 Homecoming King and Queen. The coronation took place after the HPC Football game against BDS in Clarks, bringing an exciting conclusion to a day full of school spirit and community pride.

Central City High School is gearing up for its annual Homecoming celebration this week, with excitement building toward the festivities. The week will come to a grand finale with the Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday. The parade will run from the high school to the elementary school, where the pep rally will take place, skipping the usual downtown route this year.
