Simple Christmases that are low on cost but high on meaning are possible according to Janet LaFon, family financial education specialist with University of Missouri Extension. In fact, she says a ten dollar limit is possible if you carefully plan your holiday spending.

Treasurer advises of new exemption

Starting January 1, 2026, disabled veterans in Nebraska can receive a motor vehicle tax and fee exemption for one vehicle owned and used for their personal transportation. The new exemption is part of LB650, which passed and was signed into law in 2025.

Hahn earns admiralship

Dwayne “Shorty” Hahn, a ninety-sevenyear- old Central City resident and World War II veteran, was recently awarded with an admiralship in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska by Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen.
