City Council holds busy meeting

The September meeting for the City Council of Central City can also be a busy one as it often brings with it preparation for the next fiscal year and budget conversations. This year was no exceptions as the Council met with a full agenda and also welcomed a new face to the board as Junior Councilman Van Fasbender, a junior at Central City High School, began his duties.

Area schools plan for homecoming

This year homecoming week is quickly upon us as both Central City High School and High Plains Community headed into a busy week ahead of Friday nights big football game. At Central City High School, it will be a week of fun ended with the annual homecoming parade and royalty being crowned at Preferred Popcorn Field following a big matchup with Holdrege.

Graham to be inducted into UNK Athle_c HOF

Five former student-athletes and a former head coach will be inducted into the University of Nebraska-Kearney Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies held during the school’s homecoming in late October. When the six newest members are honored there will be one local face in the crowd as she adds to her resume, already being a two-time member of the Central City High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

10 Years Ago Students and Parents take their turn on the special walkway prepared for them as they entered school to start the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. Even with the dry conditions in Central Nebraska the West Nile virus is present in the Central District Health Department service area, says the CDHD’s Cindy Valdez.
