Daily Activity Report Monday, January 23 Officer responded to a citizen assist in the 1500 block of 18th Street, Situation resolved. Officer responded to a civil issue in the 2000 block of 12th Avenue, Situation resolved.

For years now the monthly food bank in our community has been going strong and recently the dedication of many of those volunteers was recognized in the form of honoring the Central City United Methodist Church, who plays a large role in making the program a success.

An unsettling trend across the country shows a decline in EMTs when our country will be needing more by the end of the decade. That is why it was even more important this year to recognize those here in Central City who answer the call to help people in some of their largest times of need.

Many things changed in March of 2020 when the world was introduced to the COVID-19 pandemic. One group of people who had their lives turned upside down were those who answer the call to serve as a member of the Central City Ambulance crew.

A new business is now open and working in the Merrick County Foundation Business Incubator. Abintra Lumine, owned by Dr. Rachel Ziebauth, specializes in health and wellness. On Friday, January 27, they had their grand opening after doing a soft opening since November.

Central City’s P.E.O., Chapter AB, celebrated Nancy Johnson’s 50-year membership, presenting her with a bouquet and party. Nancy has been the Historian for P.E.O. Chapter AB, since 1973, and has enjoyed Central City area history for many years.
