Dick was born on August 22, 1949 to Richard “June” and Joyce (Cramer) Sealey in Stromsburg. He grew up in Polk and graduated from Polk High School in 1967. Following his graduation, Dick attended Kearney State College and received his bachelor’s degree. On December 31, 1969, Dick was united in marriage to Barb Majer in Ravenna. To this union were two beautiful daughters, Mindi and Jenna. Dick worked for the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department for a few years until moving back to Polk to farm with his dad on the family farm and begin a family. Dick was also a seed corn dealer for Golden Harvest Seed Co. and continued to farm until 2004. He then started driving semi truck, and eventually started Sealey Trucking Company. He ran his trucking company until 2017 when he was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer and retired. Dick remained in Polk living on the family farmstead until January of 2026, when he moved in with his daughter, Jenna, in Lincoln.

He was a member of the Polk United Methodist Church.

Dick was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, snow skiing, boating, golfing, farming, and shooting guns.

He was an avid sports fan and was a very good athlete himself receiving many accolades back in his high school days in football, basketball, and track where he competed in the sprint races. He was homecoming king of his high school class.

Dick was an ornery, fun-loving, optimist—a friendly, gregarious guy that loved socializing with people (friends or strangers), traveling, casinos, and especially attending sporting events and/or playing in them any chance he would get including mud volleyball, golf, or men’s softball tournaments and leagues. He always wanted everyone to enjoy life and have fun.

Dick enjoyed his men’s golf league at the Valley View Country Club as well as his men’s softball league in Central City over the years. He was very involved with his girls’ youth, high school, and college sports and rarely missed an event.

He coached their youth softball teams and spent a lot of his time joining them in shooting hoops, playing catch, taking them to the track, and traveling across the state and country for track, basketball, and club volleyball events. He was also a school board member of Polk-Hordville Public Schools for a few years.

His greatest love of all, was spending time with his daughters and his grandchildren and he found much joy especially in attending or watching their sporting events/activities and were their biggest supporters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Mindi (Josh) Bridges of Ashland and Jenna (Mitch) Bargmann of Lincoln; his siblings, Dennis (Becky) Sealey of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Peg Rahe of DeWitt, and Pat (Allen) Urkoski of Clarks; and his grandchildren, Cade and Averi Bridges and Blaike and Kaiser Bargmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Brad Rahe.
