Saturday night the Central City/Fullerton/Centura Kernels recorded an emphatic 7-1 victory over Wayne Blue Devils Varsity on Sunday, dominating the match with a spectacular five-run haul in the third inning. This impressive win unfolded at Omaha's iconic Tal Anderson Field, where the Kernels made their mark.

The Kernels first stepped up to the plate in the second inning when Nolan Hurt singled on a 2-1 count, driving in the first run of the game. This run set the tone for what was to come in the decisive third inning.

The third inning was a showcase of the Kernel's offensive prowess. Jakob Ruhl, Justice Peterson, Hurt, and Kellen Fries all contributed to the scoreboard, each securing RBIs that catapulted their team into a comfortable lead. This fruitful inning saw the Kernels tally an impressive five runs, leaving the Blue Devils struggling to close the gap.

Pitcher Carter Noakes was instrumental in securing the Kernel's victory. Noakes threw a gem, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out seven over four innings. Bosten Caspersen and Ashton Gragg also showcased their skills, entering the game from the bullpen to successfully close out the game in relief.

Unfortunately for the Blue Devils, their pitcher Brooks Kneifl was unable to stem the tide of the Kernels' assault. Despite striking out nine, Kneifl gave up six runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, ultimately being pinned with the loss.

On the batting front, Nolan Hurt led the Kernels, securing two hits in his two at bats, further solidifying the team's grip on the game.

Looking ahead, the victorious Kernels will square off against Omaha Roncalli on Monday at 7pm.
