Lady Eagles volleyball stays hot with big wins
The Nebraska Christian volleyball team came into the season with key positions to fill and lost two of their early season matchups, but since then have found their groove and as they have now won their last five matches.
This past week they were able to pick up big wins over Palmer and St. Edward in front of the home crowd before hitting the road on Tuesday to sweep Nebraska Lutheran.
“We just need to fight with mental toughness,” says Lady Eagles head coach Amy Schreiber. “I think that is a big thing this year stepping in having our roster very young to fight back and not get rolled. Not mentally breaking down, but coming together and uniting, fighting together for one purpose and continuing to not shut down. Continuing to communicate and not shut down and become a silo, but just become that community that fights for points and fights for each other.”
Tuesday night the Lady Eagles showed their growth and how far they have come as a team as they swept Nebraska Lutheran (25-9, 2516, 25-20) in Waco. It was a big night for Reghan Flynn who continues to be a leader for the team, as she came away with nine kills. Freshman newcomer Taytum Perdew continues to show her skill and on Tuesday she came away with eight kills and ten digs. Hope Seip and Amanda Needham each came up big with four ace serves while Ali Bruning continued to play well with 13 digs and 23 assists.
*Last Tuesday the Lady Eagles breezed through St. Edward 25-10 and 25-14 with Taytum Perdew and Sheridan Falk showing the future is bright as they came away with five and four kills respectively. Reghan Flynn also came up big with four kills and four digs while Hope Seip delivered with three kills and three ace serves. Ali Bruning led the team in assists with 17.
Against Palmer the team was also hot as they came away with 25-15 and 25-14 victories over an injured Tigers team. Flynn was lights out as she delivered eight kills while Needham and Graci Boersen each had three kills for the Lady Eagles.
